**Q: what is the height from the top of the hook to the base of the HOOK**
A: three and a half inches. (not including the extra piece shown at bottom of hook.

**Q: what are the dimensions**
A: Across its about 16inch. Top to bottom including the hook its about 8.5inch, and there is about 1inch thinkness all around. I ordered all black ones and feel they are made well and hold your clothing very well, i was happy with this purchase and would buy again. I hope this is helpful.
