It is basically a metal band that goes around the upper portion with tabs that go under the shoulder and over the top. This band then has a hole to use a standard padlock on. While it will discourage casual interest and slow down, the lock will not discourage a deliberate attempt to get into the vault if enough time s given. **Q: can money be buried in the mono vault?** A: We would not be responsible for damage to money but yes, we have had people bury money. You would want to place it in some type of dry bag (Loksak bag) inside of the monovault in case the vault itself failed, then you would have a back up. **Q: are dessicants needed? I will have papers stored underground in this? do papers deteriorate? do they need vacuum sealed & then placed in container?** A: Any extra protection will help, especially paper. I would define try shrink wrap document. **Q: Is there a lifting frame or clamp for the 48 x 13 vault?** A: No. Larger vaults, once installed, are typically considered semi-permanent installations are they can be more difficult to remove that to place. The manufacturer does make a 'shoulder strap' for carrying as one would a golf bag. There is also a 'carry handle' available for carry as one would a suit case.
