It has been a huge hit with both our children - a boy, aged 18 months (for whom it was bought) and a girl, nearly 3 years old. The triangle is hands-down the favorite instrument. We have had multiple "concerts" since then (of course, the grandparents think that's adorable). To those who are offended by noisy toys - don't buy this set. They are instruments intended for toddlers and preschoolers. Of COURSE they are going to be noisy. Cymbals, tambourine, triangle, maracas, clacker - YES, it's makes for a lot of noise. But that's the whole point!! Also, for those demanding high-quality instruments that produce concert hall sound, don't buy this set. Again, I reiterate that this set is intended for the very young and musically interested. It is great fun. And it is perfect as a starter set. I see my children using it for some time. We have a plastic set of similar instruments from last Christmas that will now be retired as this has taken its place. My only gripe is that the string for the triangle slips off very easily and can be lost. That, of course, adversely affects how the instrument can be played as well as its sound.
