The rim is relatively thick chrome-look plastic. It's not made from the bumper off of a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. For the price, I think it's pretty good. I've got it prominently displayed in my garage and it makes me feel happy when I look at it. It makes me want to leave the lights off. The clock movement is the exact same battery powered wall clock movement I've seen on every wall clock I've looked at in the last decade or so. Check. The neon needs a cord. You'll have a thin black cord hanging down from your light. I'll probably try to hide it under white tape or something someday.
