The speaker itself seems to be solidly built, however there is a hum or hiss that emanates from the speakers when nothing is playing and the main volume is at higher volumes. If you're going to use it as a PA System just for voice - probably not for you. As the other review stated this is probably due to the on board digital effects and the inability to turn them off. I did however get a good deal from amazon and was able to buy a like new one for only 100 - hence the 3 stars. If I spent the $299, I would be disappointed. It does have a lot of features in a small package like digital effects, subwoofer out, monitor out, mixer, bluetooth ect... they all work well. I didn't notice weak amplification from the inputs. If powerwerks could iron out the hiss or hum at higher volumes when nothing is playing - I think they'd be in business. ### ⭐ Excessive buzz and weak amplification *by J***R on February 20, 2015* I love Powerwerks, but I hate this product. The buzz is excessive and the amplification is weak. I was sure it was defective and so was Powerwerks tech support, so I returned it and ordered another one from a different seller. The second one was as bad as the first.Scratching my head, I compared the specs of this product (http://www.powerwerks.com/manuals/PW150TFX-BT-OM-RevA-17Apr2014mc.pdf) with the specs of my Powerwerks PW100T (http://www.powerwerks.com/manuals/pw100t_owners_manual.pdf):* The PW100T has -56dB residual noise (all level controls at 0%), -48dB nominal system noise (all level controls at 50%), +70dB system gain (mic to speaker output), +56dB system gain (line to speaker output), and +42dB system gain (AUX IN to speaker output)..* The PW150TFXBT has -46dB residual noise (all level controls at 0%), -37dB nominal system noise (all level controls at 50%), +49dB system gain (mic to speaker output), +35dB system gain (line to speaker output), and +25dB system gain (AUX IN to speaker output).As you can see, the PW100T beats the PW150TFXBT in every one of the above specs. Listening to the PW100T and the PW150TFXT side by side with all the level controls at the same settings, you will find the PW100T not only crisper and clearer but also louder, which is asinine because the PW150TFXT has an extra 50W.I called Powerwerks back and they admitted the PW150TFXBT was of a lesser quality when compared to the PW100T--in order to pack all of the extra features (Bluetooth, effects processor, monitor out, and extra 50W) into the PW150TFXBT and have it be at a certain price point, they had to skimp on some things. They believe the root of the problem is that the effects processor is always on (sure, the level controls can be turned to 0%, but it cannot actually be turned off).If you need a PA system only for music, this one may be passable for you. But, if you need one for public speaking, do not get this product. (I use my PA system for a stand-up comedy open mic.) Instead, consider getting this Harbinger PA system (which is actually Powerwerks, just rebranded by Harbinger)--you will get both the PW100T and PW112S for about the same price as the PW150TFXBT:Harbinger Compact Portable PA System BlackThen, you can get a Bluetooth receiver separately.
