My husband and I chewed this gum. Our favorites were grape, bubble gum, cool mint, wintergreen and then they came out with Black Cherry! We would pop in a piece until the flavor waned and then another and .... UNTIL the side effects kicked in. I started feeling disoriented and dizzy and my heart started acting funky. My resting heart rate shot up to 132 and it was a very irregular rhythm. My husband and i listened through the stethoscope. Instead of the normal BOOM boom it was a steady boomboomboomboom... and it stayed that way for several hours. We talked about going to the hospital but I don't have insurance and we were afraid of the bill. I am not sure what made us think about it, but both of us wondered about the ingredients of the gum. It is the only things we had been doing differently and we were OVERindulging in the gum. The 4th ingredient is mannitol. Xylitol is what they talk about on the Hershey's website, not the dangers of mannitol!
