We live in Houston so cooling is a main feature plus major comfort. I washed and dried this cover, then added my new cooling gel topper with a cooling pillow top cover. It works nicely, I was surprised I was able to fit the cover over all the additional layers but it worked. I love my new layers even though my mattress is really high. I dont know how waterproof this is yet but so far I am happy with my purchases.Update, the mattress pad works awesome.
