It never occurred to me to wonder why it happened, I just used the soap until it was a sliver. Now, I think that over time, the ingredients may dry out a bit but the soap part is still good. Just stick the old bar to a new one & continue using it. Repeat as needed. **Q: How many bars of soap?** A: This is apparently for one bar of soap. I have found the same soap at Dollar Tree for $1.00 a bar.
