I came home from work one day, last September, and noticed a few gnats, but didn’t think too much about it. I had never had a problem with gnats, I never dreamed I would spend a year trying to get rid of them. I bought some window adhesive strips and put on the window in the bathroom, that is where I saw them. Within a week of that they were growing in numbers. I first tried bleach, then tried using baking soda, salt and vinegar for months, that didn’t really help. I wasn’t sure which drain they were coming from, be it the shower drain or sink drain or both. As time went on the gnat problem was growing. It’s now 5 months later and still have the problem. I called a plumber out, he said, Oh, you need to call a pest control company. I called a pest control company and he said use Vinegar, salt and baking soda. LOL I went back online and purchased a KATCHY Indoor Insect Trap: Bug, Fruit Fly, Gnat, Mosquito Killer - UV Light, Fan, Sticky Glue Boards Trap Even The Tiniest Flying Bugs - No Zapper. This worked great! Well, I thought it fixed the problem. But no, gnat problem didn’t go away, because I had not gotten to the root of the problem. It’s now 8 months later. I went online and read and read about gnats. What I was learning was that I need to get rid of the larvae in order to get rid of the gnats. I found Rockwell IBDC128 InVade Bio Drain Gel. This is a great product. It really cleaned the walls of the drain, but still didn’t get rid of the problem. Next product was InVade Hot Spot Bio Foam. This is basically the same product as mentioned earlier (Rockwell IBDC128 inVade Bio Drain Gel) but it’s in foam form. This is a great product, it allows you to turn the can almost upside down, to spray foam in your drain. Doesn’t take much, so it last longer. But, unfortunately that didn’t get rid of the gnats. So, went back online and searched again for something to help me with this problem. Next product I found was Gentrol Concentrate IGR Insect Growth Regulator 10x1oz ZOE1006B and Green Gobbler Fruit Fly Goodbye Gel Drain Treatment | Drain Fly Killer | Fruit Fly Killer | Drain Flies Treatment | Fruit Flies Treatment | Drain Fly & Fruit Fly Eliminator, FINALLY I found something that was getting to the larvae. That is what Gentrol Concentrate IGR Regulator does. It kills the larvae. It doesn’t kill the adult gnats though. You will still have to deal with the adults until the product has successfully killed all the larvae. This can take as much as 2 weeks and then a week or so of treating the problem to make sure it doesn’t come back. The key is to treat the larvae everyday. Thank goodness I found Gentrol and Green Gobbler. I mixed the Gentrol with the Green Gobbler in a 16 oz squeeze bottle. Use gloves when handling this. It took 1 month after I started using it. I can’t say enough about Green Gobbler and Gentrol Concentrate IGR Regulator along with the KATCHY machine. They have successfully gotten rid of the gnats. You may not have the problem as bad as I did, but I wish I could have had this information to help me figure out the fix for the gnats. Lots of luck! Each one ounce bottle contained the amount to be mixed with 1 gallon of water. Never needed more than a gallon at a time. After first four 1 oz per 1 gallon mixtures for initial applications (every other week), I cut the amount for maintenance applications to 1/2 oz of concentrate with 1/2 gallon of water, and that was more than enough to maintain control. "10x1oz" is in the product title, so one would expect it to be 10 little bottles each containing 1 fluid oz of concentrate. Works great. Long lasting. **Q: How is this used for drain flies? What are the instructions?** A: This product is used to rid yourself from several different types of pests including but not limited to bed bugs ,spiders , fleas, ticks , drain flies and fruit flies and several more . It is a growth regulator and makes pests sterile and unable to reproduce babies . Mix 1 ounce Gentrol to 1 gallon of water in a bug sprayer bottle with wand and use like a professional exterminator spray baseboards , all 4 corners of every room in the creases where the walls corners meet also spray window screens and frames along with door frames inside and out . You may also spray perimeter of your house inside and outside It is pet and food safe . Also spray your garage and sheds if you have them . You must spray once a month consistently to break every stage of the pests life / growth cycle to eradicate the nasty pests . **Q: can the concentrate be applied with a dropper to the adhesive pads and be effective?** A: I doubt it. I would apply the adhesive pad first and then spray on it. It is great product, just be careful not to het it on your skin. **Q: Is this product safe around children?** A: it is safe in food handling areas and all kitchen areas. I contacted a professional pest control company to spray monthly and they eliminated the problem in the first month. I asked all the technicians they sent what they use and they were happy to tell me! They all emphasize how critical an IGR like gentrol is for roaches and paired it with alpine WSG. My yearly contract with them is up and I have been spraying that mixture for months on my own. I have not seen one and as far as I know the building still has a problem.
