By that, I mean guitars made completely in America stamped with a serial number starting in "USXXXXX" and costing over a grand. By no stretch of the imagination does this guitar match my Fender MIA Strat. If I want to be completely honest, it doesn't even match my Epiphone custom shop. If you buy this guitar thinking you're going to get something out of the box that will match any off-the-wall name brand guitar over five hundred or so, you are in for a rude wake-up call.If you buy this guitar expecting to need to put work into it, in order to have a customized double neck without having to pay a grand for the Epiphone model or up to ten grand for an actual Gibson EDS-1275, then you may find yourself pleased.Out of the box, the six string neck was pretty well set up. While the intonation was off, it was only slight and required very little adjustment. This is well within the grounds of any guitar, and not worth anything knocked off the rating. The twelve string neck was horribly set up, rending it almost unplayable. Again, a few more adjustments that anyone who's played electric for a few years knows how to do, and it was playable.The hardware seems decent enough, with the guitar holding tune fairly better than I thought it would. You can go a while without needed to replace the tuning machines if they are of the same quality as the ones in the guitar I received. The bridge and tailpiece for the six string are easy enough to replace (any guitar shop has replacements). The bridge and tailpiece for the twelve string, however, are more difficult to find.The electronics, on the other hand, are where the problems start to come up. Firstly, the switches for the neck selector and pickup selectors are VERY loose. While they do stay in position, it feels like any accidental bump with switch it. The pickups hum loudly if you're not holding the strings, which could be either a wiring problem or just cheap pickups. Also, the tone control for the twelve string neck is wired as a master gain. Don't know if this is intentional or not. These are problems that will, of course, be fixed with upgrades.As noted, the guitar does come with a decent gig bag. It also comes with a few tools to adjust the truss rods, a VERY thin guitar cable, and a very cheap strap. A word of advise: get a better strap made for bass if you plan to stand while playing this guitar.As a playable guitar, this rates as maybe a two star guitar. A teenager who just wants a double neck with no plans of doing upgrades may like it as is, but very few gigging musicians will like it as is.
