Lightweight, large enough, good grip *by S***H on January 4, 2025* This actually wasn't my first choice for a travel mat, but it was the only one that would arrive overnight to the hotel where I was staying. It's perfect for a travel mat! It's not the lightest weight one (which is why it was my second choice), but it's still way lighter than the mat I use at home. It's a decent thickness to provide some padding, and if it's not enough you could always use it on top of a beach towel or something for additional padding. For me, the main thing is grippiness. I thought I could just do yoga anywhere but I tried it in the hotel room on a beach towel and it was terrible, because my hands and feet kept slipping in poses like down dog. This mat has great grip, and really I think that's the main thing you need to do yoga anywhere. It folds up so it's easy to throw in your carryon bag, which a rolled mat wouldn't be. I did notice a faint rubber smell on it when my face is close, like in child's pose, but it's not strong or too chemical, just smells like rubber. I hope that will start to fade but we if it doesn't, it's not a deal breaker.
