I've used it on my husband and my 19 month old daughter. There are three different sizes and the smallest one is perfect for my petite little girl and the biggest is perfect for adults. It's enough to see if there is anything serious (where you may need a doc), enough to see if there's an infection, and enough to see wax buildup. This comes with batteries and they are not the best kind of batteries so have on hand the right kind just in case. The curettes are hard to clean after collecting wax so I'd advise people to run under boiling water to disinfect to make sure nothing gets stuck. It seems sturdy enough to keep for a few years and although the part you look through is plastic, if you take good care of it, which I plan to, I'm sure it would stay fine. The plastic is so clear that I thought it was glass at first! All in all I'm super happy with my purchase.
