## Description

StressGuard™ is the premium slime coat protection product. StressGuard™ will reduce stress and ammonia toxicity whenever handling or transporting fish. StressGuard™ binds to exposed protein in wounds to promote healing of injured fish and to reduce the likelihood of primary and secondary infections. StressGuard™ is compatible with all medications except those that are copper based. StressGuard™ is not amine based and will not interfere with Purigen®; or HyperSorb™ regeneration. StressGuard™ does not coat resins or clog filtration like competing “slime coat” type products can. What makes StressGuard™ very successful at healing is the fact that it contains protein active colloids. This protein active colloidal agent actively seeks out any wounds, abrasions, or places where exposed proteins are and attaches to this area to help directly deliver the This protein active colloid, because it binds to the exposed proteins, also acts like a liquid bandage to the abrasion. Some products are marketed to be squirted in the bag when a fish is purchased. Those products are generally acidic, with some brands being a very strong acid. Putting such a product in a small, enclosed container with a fish often does more harm than any intended good. StressGuard™ has a pH of 7.0. It will not affect the pH of an aquarium, even at large doses. There are no other products on the market that can compare to the effectiveness of StressGuard™

Review: Saved my Betta! - My betta had a severe tear in their tail fin and this product healed it completely within about two weeks of use following the directions and doing water changes more often as in one every two to three days. The key detail here is regular water changes during this time! A fish with an injury needs clean water with stressguard, stressguard alone will not heal the fish. This is because it acts more like a bandage, when we have a bandage on we have to keep the wound clean and it is the same here. Dirty water with bacteria or fungus may lead to infections which will slow down healing since the fish will be more focused on fighting an infection instead of healing that torn fin, that is why pristine water is the other side of the coin. I recommend this product, it does not negatively impact fish, crustaceans, plants, the filtration, or the established nitrifying bacteria in the tank. To my knowledge this is the only product of its kind, API has a stress coat but it is really just aloe vera which promotes healing but does not protect the wound. This actually acts as a protein bandage of sorts and that makes it quite unique and helpful for your fish.
Review: Great for fish in cycle - I love that this is safe for betta, unlike most other slime coat products. I've been doing a fish in cycle and slowly adding more fish, so the fact that this provides extra protection and antiseptic properties without crashing the new cycle is reassuring. I actually started using it at first because my first betta injured his tail a bit, but it healed up within a few days of starting this alongside water changes

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this product have an expiration date? Just wondering what the shelf life would be**
A: There is no date on the bottle.

**Q: Can I use this when introducing new fish to my aquarium**
A: Yes you can

**Q: Do I need to remove filter to use this product?**
A: You don’t need to remove filter pads/floss. You would want to remove carbon/purigen/etc. I would also shut off your skimmer as it could cause excess foaming.

**Q: Is this the same as the Prime or do you use both?**
A: No, this product is more specifically used to reduce stress when transporting or cleaning. It also has antiseptic properties for the fish. Prime is better for when ammonia is the issue or if you are cycling. You can use both products, alternating between the 2.
