With an ultra-low friction formula and a flow point of -40°C, it ensures consistent, smooth performance across extreme temperatures. Trusted by leading cycling brands, it also doubles as an effective cable and brake lever lubricant, making it an essential upgrade for serious cyclists seeking reliability and efficiency. ## Description Our Classic Freehub Oil is a great addition for the bicycle market and another superior product from Dumonde Tech. Freehub Oil is the original lubricant on the market specifically designed for Pawl style freehubs which require a lightweight lubricant. Freehub Oil performs consistently throughout a wide temperature range. Flow Point is -40 degrees, is extremely low friction, providing the greatest protection. Simply follow the manufactures specification for the volume of oil required in your freehub body to experience the superior performance of Dumonde Techs Freehub Oil. With Freehub Oil being light weight, growing reports for other applications have been reported. It can be used as cable lube and brake lever lubricant for the small moving parts and the light weight spring action they have. Time and cold temperatures do not effect performance of Freehub Oil like with heavier viscosity, time and temperature aged greases. They become thicker and stickier as they age slowing down the parts action. For me I have an I9 Hydra hubs and I use both the free hub oil and free hub grease. Do not use regular grease. I9 hubs need to be looked after on a regular basis so I'm always keeping things nice a lubed. The oil will make my hubs louder ,the grease quieter . So whatever free hub you have it won't matter if you use oil or grease ,just keep them clean and lubed and they will perform well for a long time **Q: Anyone use this oil for dt Swiss ratchet system instead of the special pink grease? Does this make the hub louder?** A: You should stay with the special DT grease for your DT hub. **Q: Dose this work for 3 speed vintage hubs?** A: This oil might work for 3spd hubs, but it's not formulated for that. I've used regular 30wt motor oil, or Sturmey Archer oil for old 3spd hubs, and it works fine. Dumonde Tech Freehub Oil is formulated for lubing the click mechanisms and bearings in Shimano, Mavic, and similar click pawl freehubs bodies. **Q: Is this the Pro-X freehub oil or is it different?** A: I don't know if the Pro X lube is any better. The regular Dumonde Tech FH oil seems to work well, is lightweight, and the pawls in my FH don't stick. I service my FH at least yearly, probably about every 3,000 miles or so. Biggest problem: some freehubs are so well sealed up it's difficult flushing them out and getting new lube in. Mavic FHs are super easy, and older Shimano FHs are also easy; newer high-end models are hard to lube. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mechanic's Choice *by F***E on September 26, 2026* Quiets clicky freehubs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lubes like oil, protects like grease. *by S***S on April 21, 2026* This is great oil for free hub bodies.
