While the knit fabric is a little thin, they have held up well under multiple washings and occasional bleaching. I already had a well used queen mattress pad, so I use that under the sheet and just tuck the excess under the mattress. I selected this item during a stressful time and it continues to serve its purpose well.BTW Recently needed to add extra protection to the bed. I found the Improvia brand 34' X 36" pack on Amazon. The pad covers the width of a hospital bed. They wash well. If there is a stain, I poke a hole in a Tide pod and directly apply some detergent to the stain. These are cheaper and more comfortable than Chux type disposable pads and they stay in place. We caretakers need good products to care for our loved ones .
