The cable is about 1 meter long and is all encased with a tough coating and sturdy USB cover. Below is some manufacturer information: ------------- Built-in TTL COM PC-PL2303HX Chip Standard USB type A male and TTL 4 pin connector Cable length: 1000mm (39 3/8 in) Simple and Easy way to give USB support to your designs Available for Linux, Mac, WinCE and Windows (XP, 2003), Vista, Win 7 and above may have driver issues. I recommend the PL2303TA chipset if you're working exclusively on a current generation Operating System as Prolific no longer supports this device on them. Black cable-----GND Green cable----TXD White cable----RXD Red cable ---- VCC (5V) PL2303 Windows Driver Download ------------ Please be aware that you may need install drivers to have this fully enumerate as a COM port correctly. Windows may even do this for you. Also this cable outputs 5V over the red VCC wire. If you have a 3.3V device, you need to power it externally and just use the TX and RX wires from this cable to prevent possible damage. Or if you are crafty there is a 3.3V access under the plastic shell that isn't broken out into the cable.
