It took a few attempts to get the texture and flavour i wanted with other added ingredients, but i like it. It's dried soya and not like the cheap defatted TVP. I've been trying to cut down on meat a bit, so thought I’d give this a go — and I’m honestly impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but once it’s soaked and cooked properly, it’s actually got a really decent texture. I’d say it’s firmer and a bit more “meaty” than regular TVP, which I like. The darker colour helps it look more like beef mince too, especially in dishes like chilli or Bolognese. I usually soak it in hot veg stock for 10–15 minutes, squeeze out the extra liquid, and then fry it up with onions, garlic, spices — it soaks up flavours really well. Works great in tacos, pasta sauces, or anything you’d normally use mince for. It’s also super filling, high in protein, and really affordable for how much you get. I’ve already used it for a few batch-cooked meals and it’s saved me money too. Tip: don’t just soak it in plain water — using stock or sauce makes a huge difference in flavour. Really glad I gave it a try — it’s now a regular in my cupboard.
