It's just the right size and footprint to replace my much larger one from the 50's... and it's nice and heavy-based just like the old one. BUT this one I won't have to polish brass any more. I like that it takes a standard size 3-way bulb, where the old brass one had a bulb size that was big as my fist AND hard to find, let alone the cost of one bulb!! This is a well made lamp and the swing out arm on it makes it easy to stay put in the corner without moving the whole lamp around. It was well packaged, easy to put together and I'm betting it will last me a very long time, just like my Grandpa's old brass one has (which I can now pass on to Goodwill or wherever!!). I was overdue for a NEW one of MY picking. Great Lamp. Good price. Good quality. Small footprint. Looks "rich" in color.
