In one of the owner forums I visited, another poster stated that if the water temperature of the engine is low due to a bad thermostat, it can reduce gas mileage and in time, ruin your cat. convertor. So in addition to replacing the thermostat (also purchased here at Amazon), I also replaced the temperature sending unit. Like so many DIY's and professional mechanics have learned, when you tear something down, it's best to replace all the parts. So while my old sensor appeared to operate correctly, I still chose to replace it.While I agree with some reviews that stated it appears cheaply made, it has been on the vehicle for several months now and has had no issues. I do recommend that when replacing it, SLOWLY and CAREFULLY screw it into the engine block as it was very hard to access. The threads already had some sealant on them (as shown in the picture) and in order to make sure it wasn't crossed threaded, I took my time.
