Review: A little pricey, but it works and is 100% worth it! - We try to make homeopathic and natural remedies our first stop for solving many every day issues. That being said, I'm still always indifferent on "solutions" until we have proof, even anecdotal, that it works. For whatever reason this year has been extra heavy with sickness going around, and the usual tinctures and immune boosters were seemingly ineffective. One day we were discussing with a friend and she suggested this - Oscillococcinum. The dosage arrives in the individual tubes, with tiny little pellets that you let dissolve in your mouth. These are no problem for kids to take, since they have a slight sweetness to them as well. First person to try them was myself when I woke up with a sore throat one day... The sore throat we all know, and what is coming next. I immediately began taking this. Next morning, my wife had the sore throat. Neither of us ever got worse or more progressed than that one day of a sore throat and slight congestion. Seemed to really work for us! Next was the children. All started getting it... Somehow only two out of the 3 got their doses of this. Ironically, the two that got their doses recovered like us, but the one who didn't was down and out for an extra day or two before starting to get back to normal. That was the biggest anecdotal evidence that this works. And from now on, we keep it stocked in our cupboards for whenever anyone in the family starts having symptoms of cold or flu. Highly recommend! And yes, this is slightly expensive. But for the trouble if saves, and the days of bedrest it saves you, and not seeing your kids in pain and discomfort - imo, that's totally worth it!

A: Drug facts: Anas barbariae 200CK HPUS. Inactive ingredients are lactose and sucrose. Instructions say to dissolve one tube of pellets under the tongue every 6 hours. My chiropractor instructed to take second dose within an hour and a third a couple hours after if I still had symptoms. It works!

The ingredients of a one-gram tube of Oscillococcinum are listed as follows:

Active ingredient: Anas Barbariae Hepatis et Cordis Extractum (extract of Muscovy duck liver and heart) 200CK HPUS 1×10−400 g[11] which is much less than the mass of a proton (1.67×10−24 g).[11]
Inactive ingredient: 0.85 g sucrose, 0.15 g lactose (100% sugar).[14]
The 200CK indicates that the preparation entails a series of 200 dilutions of the starting ingredient, an extract from the heart and liver of a Muscovy duck.[11] Each step entails a 1:100 dilution, where the first mixture contains 1% of the extract, the second contains 1% of the first mixture, etc.[11] The K indicates that it is prepared by the Korsakovian method, in which rather than 1% of the preparation being measured out at each stage and then diluted, a single vessel is repeatedly emptied, refilled, and vigorously shaken (in homeopathic terminology "succussed"), and it is assumed that 1% remains in the vessel each time.[15] The 200C dilution is so extreme that the final pill contains none of the original material.[11][16]
