I had struggled for a long time to find a self-closing gate catch that would work for our (slightly awkward) gate setup - as soon as I found this one I knew it was exactly what I was after. It is very easy to use, self catches (so the gate doesn't bang in the wind if the kids forget to close it) and I love the additional catch to hold the gate open as well.

It’s a good solid, heavy product. I don’t think I’ll need another one ever. Wish I had invested in it earlier. Would highly recommend

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a 4" thick shed door. Will this fit?**
A: I don't think so, my door was 5" thick so I just fabricated an extension out of flat stock steel.  Not ideal but it was my only option, ended up working good.

**Q: Packaging says, "also available for 3" doors". is there a part number? i can't find a 3" version anywhere - not even at national hardware.**
A: National Hardware N101-659 25 Swinging Door Latch in Zinc Plated is for a 3-inch door, which is sold on Amazon.
This latch is sturdy and easy to install.
Only comes as Zink plated.

**Q: Will this work on a vinyl gate?**
A: It would work in my opinion, but depet on how strong the vinyl is, you might want to find a way to reinforce the area you plan to mount it.

**Q: Can the bolt (Latch) be reversed so the bulk of the device is inside and just a handle outside? I need these for a Special use than what is shown**
A: Use N165-506 Slide/Sliding Bolt Door/Gate Latch on the side you want lock access. Padlock it in the open or the closed position as you see fit, and use the N101-576 as a casual latch. If worried that a prankster could put a lock on the 101-576, cut off the locking flange.

Very easy to install and does exactly what it is supposed to. Once you have this setup correctly it is amazing, more like an internal door than gate latch, holds the gate firmly shut with none of the usual rattling and loose fitting of convential gate latches
