I have had a set in my truck for the last 20 years that the case broke and got water in it that tore up the tools. The case is more robust on this one. Having the handle as a solid part of the case is so much better. My old case the handle broke after a couple of years. The case is pinned shut in the box. Pull really hard and the pins come out so the lock can be opened. I used a pair of side cutters to lever the pin out. Review: How to unlock the slider. - High quality as expected by Crescent tools. I did have a problem with unlocking the sliders. There was a plastic pin preventing the slider from moving and I could not remove it even with pliers. So, I used a small drill bit to drill through it and then the removal was easy. The slider works well both unlocking and locking. Before I drilled it out, I sent an email a Crescent group located in Apex, NC asking for help on removing the plastic pin. I never received an answered and decided to drill it out. Oh! How's the process of getting a replacement?** A: If you have a defective tool, you may contact us directly at csrhardware@apextoolgroup.com or call 800-650-8665 **Q: Whats the difference between the 170 and the 180 piece, ( beside 10) ?** A: I believe the 180 is the newer of the two variations. The ratchets seem better than the 170 set ,(no holes under the directional change lever). There is no channel lock style pliers, and the needle nose is a smaller size. Also there is no 1/2" drive ratchet, and they added a diagonal cutter. They seemed to have added more driver bit too to the 180 set to get to the higher number. I haven't used the 180 set so I am sorta curious. Wasn't happy with the 170 set because of the holes in the ratchets and the weak magnet on the driver handle which couldn't hold the sockets in place. If the magnet of the driver handle on the 180 set is stronger than what is in the 170 set, this might be the better of the two sets. Also with the missing 1/2" drive ratchet, maybe they didn't skips sizes on the sockets like they did in the 170 set. It's hard to tell, they don't show the complete list of sizes in the description. **Q: Do the two allen wrench sets include metric?** A: Yes, but this is a terrible set. Save your money. **Q: Does the manufacturer or seller sell only the case? My husband ran over his set, pleased to say no tools were damaged, but case is no longer functiona** A: They don't.
