I was looking for an alternative to prescription acyclovir and after long research settled on BHT. In tiny doses it was for years a food preservative. It has been shown to reduce (not cure) many viral and bacterial conditions in doses of 250-750 mgs per day most notably herpes. Its disrupts the lipid coat on viruses constructed with a lipid coat and some gram negative bacteria as well as per published medical papers. Be aware of the fact that there are two camps one of which believes that it is dangerous in high doses and may interfere in metabolism of sugars in the body or cause cancer. I believe that the weight of the evidence is that it is not dangerous for use in doses of 250 mg per day and occasionally higher doses for short periods.
