It actually does support your head - you can rest it on this pillow and it will stay in position. Most of the neck pillows are equivalent to wearing a thick scarf - they are just so soft your neck still bends about 90 degrees after you fall asleep (especially the memory foam ones). I really don't understand what's the point of that. This works great, and is very versatile - you can move it around till you find the comfortable position. Not sure about the other demonstrated uses, but i just fold it in half and place it on the back or on the side of my head - or anywhere in between. I doubt I would ever use it as a sitting pillow, because I wouldn't want to rest my face on something that was laying on the ground or I was sitting on. It's definitely lager than most plane pillows, but to me getting some sleep is definitely worth the space in my carry-on. The original size is amazing for your neck! There more ways to use this bigger size that work great for your Thrombosic and lumbar region! I have had two major cervical surgeries. c3-7. This pillow has been a life saver for me! Especially before surgery when finding a way to lay flat and not be miserable was almost impossible!! I have both sizes. The original size works best for the neck. And the jumbo size works great for my lumbar and thoracic damage. Great for use on the airplane!! You know when you fall asleep and your mouth falls open?! LOL If you fold the pillow in half and put it behind your neck and then slide it around a little bit under your chin and your in business! Travels well! Fits perfectly over your carry-on luggage handle or hand bag strap!! When I see all the travelers carrying there regular travel pillows, I feel bad for them! I love these pillows! The only downside is, if you sweat on the pillow the dark blue color bleeds terribly!
