I bought this because I often travel to conferences with international participants, who might have forgotten their adapters to make their plug fit into US sockets - this solves the problem quite easily, as the sockets are universal (they accept pretty much any country's plugs). The only drawback is that due to the ability to accept plugs from any country, the thing is HUGE. Because the outlets on it accept various international plugs, you can purchase something overseas and plug it in - just as you can still use foreign devices when you get home. You just need one international adapter to plug this power strip into a power source overseas and you are off and running. It's not a small power strip, but the long cord is handy to run it to a table, and it's very reliable. Adapters for UK & Europe (into wall socket) will be used with product.** A: It will work with 2 & 3 prong plugs, such as a power cord for a computer (these are usually 3-prong) and it will work with iPhone chargers, and other chargers such as blue tooth. What it will NOT accept are 2-prong, polarized plugs (where one of the prongs is wider than the other). However, to use a polarized plug in the power strip, you would first plug in a UK or European adapter into the power strip and then plug your polarized plug into the adapter....that works fine. We did that on a trip to UK and France...we took 3 or 4 adapters with us. This power strip came in very handy to charge multiple devices as we often found that some hotel rooms had few available outlets. Also, you will need one UK or European adapter to plug in the 3-prong cord for this adapter. **Q: I'm not that smart, why do I need a EMI/RFI filter? What does that do? Thanks!** A: Sometimes electrical lines will pick up noise from other electrical devices, EMI electromagnetic interference, or radio frequencies, RFI, that can affect devices plugged into the electrical outlets the EMI/RFI filter is to help keep this from happening. **Q: how long is the cord and is it 14/3 wire** A: The cord is approximately 6 feet long (about 1.83 meters). I don't know enough about wire to say if it is 14/3, but I can tell you it easily handles 220 current. I have taken it to Malaysia and to Fiji, and zero problems. **Q: Does this convert voltage? From 220 to 110?** A: No. It is not a converter. It accepts American or European plugs into it and will plug into European wall sockets with an adapter. This allows you to use your appliances that can be switched from 110 to 220 or have dual capacity. Most power strips that you get at a regular hardware store only work with 110. That's why I bought this one for travel. If you're traveling outside of the U.S. (to Europe, for example) you'll need to get an adapter to convert the voltage of your electronic devices, or just make sure your electronics are dual voltage to begin with (almost all laptops, camera chargers, and phone chargers are.) Anyway, this product worked beautifully. I took it to France and used it for just about every device I had. Keep in mind, the plug that goes into the wall is a U.S. STYLE PLUG, so you'll need to get a small plug adapter for that. What really makes this product great is the universal outlets on the strip itself. You can plug American AND European appliances into the same strip.
