If I want to replace the HD, is this the best way to go? No need to by new OS?** A: If by unrepairable you mean SMART Current Pending Sector then offline duplication is NOT recommended. Tested on SDOCK2U33RE with a 1.5TB drive w/ 6 reported errors the duplication was still at 0% after 24 hours. Also be advised this model is NOT capable of retrieving SMART data over USB (newer chipset than older models).
