You can fill the compartment with water, ice cubes or my personal favourite is soaking the filter in water and putting it in the freezer for 30-40 minutes. The filters are easily cleaned by removing them from the filter frame and soaking them in water with a bit of clothes detergent. Allow to dry and replace. The air cooler plugs in to a USB outlet and can be taken anywhere.

Great for personal space. I purchased a few and placed them in different rooms in my apartment. Saved a lot on electricity bills.
