But, I wouldn't suggest it. **Q: Would this work to make heated socks?** A: I've made heated gloves using thin gauge copper wire. It is very flexible which is good for gloves. Make sure to do the math on how much power your wire element will consume, calculated by squaring the voltage of your source divided by the resistance of the wire: V^2/R. 5W is a good starting point. I researched how to replace the wire and saw other people had done it with this 22 ga wire, so I thought I would give it a shot. The wire in my grid cutter was slightly smaller than 22 ga, but it was closest to 22 ga. With a little patience, I was able to restring the cutter and it works great!
