## Description

NINE STEP MASTERCLASS: FRENCH PRESS Hate boring, cold coffee? Us too. Our huge capacity kit is vacuum-layered and double-filtered for flavor fuller than a centipede’s sock drawer and a toasty brew for longer. Oh yeah, you even get a mini canister for storing your next caffeine hit Keep coffee (or tea) hot for 60 minutes longer than glass. 304 stainless steel is 33% thicker and 20% heavier than the competition. A cool touch handle protects your hands and the spring-loaded, double-screen filter brews a cleaner cup, with less coffee or tea sediment left behind. Professional-grade in every way. This brewer is tough, durable and rust proof. Unlike glass it won’t break when you drop it (but your floor might need some attention). Your search for coffee that makes you smile every time ends here Plunge into next-level coffee. The Gator press is uniquely designed to stop sediment but let the delicious coffee oils into your cup. This results in a rich, full-bodied brew that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Water becomes magic! Introduction to French Press French Press is a classic and completely manual way of brewing coffee as well as tea. It aims to extract a fuller flavor and aroma from your favorite coffee beans or tea leaves by following the simple technique of immersion brewing in which the beans or leaves are allowed to remain submerged under hot water for a few minutes. The French Press has been around for more than 150 years and has a cult following. As much as its appearance seems confusing, it is rather more simple and affordable than other brewing methods and devices. How to Use French Press Like a Pro With the right knowledge and the right tools you would be able to prepare rich and creamy coffee by using a French press. It is simply a beaker fitted with a plunger at the top and a mesh filter in the middle. The press uses hot water to steep coarsely ground coffee and once it has been submerged for the desired time, the plunger is pushed downwards to separate the grounds from your coffee drink. The stainless steel mesh, unlike paper filters, allows the natural oils in the beans to pass through alongwith tiny particles resulting in a rich brew. Remember, you can only use coarse ground coffee with a French Press. Anything smaller will just be retained in your coffee drink and give it a bad taste. If you are a coffee lover and want to make full use of the French Press then there are only four things you need to follow: the correct coffee to water ratio, the right temperature, right brewing time and the right coffee. You also need to have tools in your pantry which would help you make the perfect blend. These include digital scale or measuring cup, burr grinder for grinding coffee beans into coarse coffee, thermometer for checking water temperature and a kettle for boiling water. You can use any coarse ground coffee you prefer. However we recommend using a burr grinder to get freshly ground coffee as that would not only give you control over the granule size but would also end up preparing a delicious fresh coffee drink. Step by Step Process Explained Heat water in your kettle to a temperature of 200 F. For each gram of coffee use 15/16 times water. You can find an entire chart of suitable ratios on the web. Pour some of this water in the empty French Press and let it rest for 15-30 seconds. This is done to increase the vessel’s temperature so that your drink remains hot till the very end. While your vessel is being heated, use the burr grinder to prepare freshly ground coffee. For best taste use whole beans and grind only the required amount while keeping the rest of the beans in an airtight container. When the vessel has been warmed up, empty it and put in your ground coffee. Instead of pouring in all the hot water, just use the amount that is enough to submerge all your coffee. This will start the “blooming” process in which the ground coffee will release gasses and become ready for brewing. After 30 seconds, add the remaining water. Stir the mixture and close the lid of the press. After 4.27 minutes, push the plunger down slowly in order to filter out the grounds from the liquid coffee. Stop the plunger when it is right above the coffee grounds. Do not push the plunger further, otherwise the grounds will be pushed into your coffee drink and make it bitter. Pour the coffee in your favorite mug and do not let the remaining coffee sit for long in the vessel as it would become more saturated and hence bitter.           The Best Coffee to Use in a French Press Coffee Maker As mentioned before, the French Press is equipped with a stainless steel mesh and works well with coarse ground coffee. Finely grounded coffee will just pass through the mesh and provide you with coffee you won’t be able to drink. Moreover, the press works on the idea of immersive brewing and is suitable for coffee with a relatively large surface area which makes it possible to release more carbon dioxide during the blooming stage thus enhancing the brew quality. Keeping this in view, the right size of the coffee will be coarse ground coffee. Although you can find many varieties including the French Press grade from a store or from a coffee shop, the best thing to do is to ground your own coffee using a suitable grinder such as a burr grinder. The type of coffee beans you use is entirely your own choice and preference. However, because the press retains natural oils in your coffee, ardent French Press admirers prefer to use medium to dark roasted beans. We would recommend using Brazilian or Arabica beans if you prefer bold flavors. And if you like your coffee light, try Ethiopian or Kenyan brands. Regardless of which bean type you use, remember that it is the grinding that makes the difference. The size of the granule will decide how much of its flavor you can extract. For perfect results, select beans which have been roasted within the last two months and grind them yourself. Use mineral water instead of tap water for brewing.  Tea Technique Yes, your French press can also brew a cup of tea that’s tr è s bien.Just heat your water to the proper temperature for the type of tea you’re drinking, and pour it over your tea in the bottom of the press. Place the lid and strainer over the top, and set a timer. Green tea: 2-4 minutes Black tea: 3-5 minutes Herbal tea: 5-15 minutes When your tea has steeped to your taste, slowly press the plunger to the bottom, and pour. Should we change our name to Tea Gator? Hmm... SPECIFICATIONS Capacity: 34oz / 1 liter / 8 cups (around 8 espresso shots or 4 mugs) Height: 8.5” / 21.5cm Material: Premium, Double-walled Stainless Steel Insulation

Review: Satisfied with the quality and finish easy to clean and keeps the coffee Very hot. - Have been using it for over a year now, and quite satisfied with the quality and finish. Easy to clean and keeps the coffee Very hot. I pre-heat it with a bit of boiling water befor adding the coffee and water, Its a bit difficult to see the markings inside, but i use a scale to measure the coffee, so i leave it on the scale and add the water, for a perfect cup every time !
Review: Go buy one. - I previously owned an insulated french press that I purchased many years ago from Starbucks. (I wanna say that I bought it like...8 years ago). anyway, it was time to retire the thing. The handle had broken off, it leaked, the plastic part of the lid had cracked in a way that made it rather dangerous to use. But, I was stubborn, and didn't want to get rid of it. I mean, that coffee pot was my longest relationship, how could I give it up!? But, finally, it was time. So I went on the search for a comparable replacement that could handle my 2-3 pots-per-day usage and wouldn't break. After some research and searching around town for something I liked, I stumbled across the Coffee Gator on desertcart. I'll admit, I immediately liked it because of the name. I mean, come on, Coffee Gator? It sounds cool. So I read some reviews, and finally decided to buy one. It arrived in the mail 2 days later and I opened it up, excited for my new kitchen toy. It was in a pretty box, packaged up all nice, and I immediately put it to work. And omg, it's amazing!! The double filter really does make a difference. (I was a little dubious about this before trying it out), and my coffee is more of a drink, and less of a 'snack' now. I had gotten used to having some grounds in my coffee, and didn't mind it, but gosh, it's nice to just drink coffee without stuff in it. It keeps the coffee about as hot as my old one did (in it's prime). So as far as that goes, I'd say it's about average compared to other insulated presses. (I also have a glass press that I use for tea, and that gets cold really quickly, so it's better than those for sure) The thing I like best about it, is that there are no plastic pieces to break off. The spout and handle are firmly attached (Welded?) to the pot, so they shouldn't come off. And the lid/plunger are metal as well. But not the kind of metal that makes your hands stink. I bought the gunmetal grey one, and just as a purely aesthetic comment, it's not as dark as it is in the desertcart pictures. Just fyi. It's still grey...but not really that dark. Which is fine. Oh, and it's not as heavy as it looks. I was expecting it to be pretty weighty, but it's not. It's not gonna give you a workout at 6am when you roll out of bed. So ya, bottom line, I couldn't be happier. I would absolutely purchase again if a tank ran over my current one and managed to break it. And I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that loves coffee. And they say it's expensive, but for any insulated press you're gonna get into pretty pricey territory, and this one certainly is worth it. 10/10 Thanks, Coffee Gator!! oh, and the little container that comes with it, is adorable. I'll never use it for coffee, but damn, it's cute. Edit: It's 2024 now. I have move across the country twice, gotten married, and still have my trusty Gator french press. I still use it at least once a day and it makes the coffee as wonderfully delicious as it did when I first bought it. I have changed the filters, washed it so much that the "gunmetal grey" came off and now it's solid silver. The ONLY thing that has broken was the top of the plunger, and that's only because it got dropped...hard. Right on its head. So yeah, go buy one. It's probably the best thing I've ever gotten on desertcart. Happy coffee drinking!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you make cold brewed coffee in this?**
A: Absolutely! I have been using mine for a few months now to make cold brewed coffee. I prepare the coffee the night before and pop it into the refrigerant overnight. I like the stainless steel construction because I don't have to worry about it shattering if it gets jostled around in the fridge. It fits perfectly into one of the bins on the inside door.

**Q: Is this product BPA free?**
A: Hi Renee, thanks for getting in touch. I can confirm that both the french press and the mini canister are both 100% BPA free. If there's anything else you want to know, we are ready too help. Kindest regards, Team Gator.

**Q: Is the entire unit completely lead free? It concerns me it is made in China.**
A: Hey there! With regards to your question, the French Press is made from high quality 403 grade stainless steel - the same as used in surgical instruments. There are no chemicals used during the manufacturing process and certainly no adhesives. It is completely lead free. By the way, the concept and design was formulated in the UK - Gator headquarters and the manufacture was done in China.
Gator takes pride in releasing only the best quality products and customer service so I say if give it a chance and if you were unhappy just drop us a line and we will do our best to make it right for you.
Kind regards,
Victoria

**Q: why does this take 9 minutes?**
A: It could actually take as little as 3, depending on your preparation resources and taste in coffee. 3-4 minutes are required to heat your water to 200-degrees in a microwave. This could be reduced to 20-seconds if you have an instant hot water tap. The manufacturer recommends steeping the coffee for 5-minutes for full taste, but I would steep my coffee for as little as 3 in the past and still got great results.
