Yes, it stings sometimes if you haven't been moisturizing like you should have been. No, it doesn't look a sunburn, but it can cause a little bit of pinkness that goes away in half an hour or less. This mask is gentle enough to use two or three times a week if you need (and I have without bad results). Like any other product you put on your precious face, please do a patch test before gooping the whole pack on your face. My only complaint is that I usually purchased these masks from the Kmart across from my house that has since shut down.
