Can they take them and swallow them, will they come part?** A: They are a good 2.5-3 inches long. I can't imagine a cat being able to or interested in swallowing the fish. They seem pretty sturdy. It already comes with an extra 8 batteries (+8 installed already). You can purchase those batteries on Amazon in bulk. **Q: If my cat typically doesn't like water, will she still play with this?** A: The batteries last for only 10 - 15 minutes, if they work at all. Don't waste your money on this. Get your cats one of those little towers that shine a laser light on the ground. The light goes back and forth and around and around. My cats love it!
