You are supposed to only heat this for a max of 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, it was still only lukewarm to the touch so I heated it in 30 second increments. I think i got to 4 min in total and then half of the inner bubbles burst. It still didn’t feel real warm to the touch!!! Even though the inner bubbles burst and the liquid flowed out, it is still contained by the outer layer so it is still usable . It actually fits a little better and conforms to my husbands arm a bit better now with half of the inner bubbles gone. Husband still doesn’t think it gets real hot- and surely the heat doesn’t last that long. The cold pack by this brand is definitely better! They don't do well when pressure is put on them. The inside will rupture and then the outside. **Q: How do you heat it if you dont own a microwave?** A: This product can only be heated in the microwave. If you want wet heat, you could always wet a washcloth with hot or boiling water and place that between the heat pack and your skin. The instructions are easy to follow.
