At literally ONE FIFTH of the price of the original even if durability issues eventually surface (which I doubt) these are well worth making the switch. I really like the original but come on, FIVE times the cost of these it's a no brainer to go with the less expensive option, not to mention fast free shipping. I have waited up to a month in the past for the original to ship. These pants are well made of quality materials and the MC pattern is pretty spot on. However, I just purchased it and cannot comment on the long term water resistant effects **Q: Are the knee pads soft or hard ?** A: It's like a foam with a hard plastic pad. My only complaint with the pads is that it had 4 or 6 little velcro circles that were glued on. The problem is the kneepads are attached with hook loop discs that are glued on. Took out my kneepads and put my pants in the wash to find the little discs in my wash machine. My advice?
