Probably one of the best hair styling products I've ever bought. **Q: Is the size of the barrel 1/2 inch to 1 inch or 1 inch throughout?** A: I would say 1/2 in to 1 in. It's wider at the base. Honestly if your looking for SUPER tight curls you should get the Baby Curls instead of the Grande but I think the Grande does a great job with looser waves and tighter more defined curls depending on how long you leave it in. I’ve had everything from Hot Tools Professional, Beach Waver, Bed Head and Conair and until this day I swear the best wand I had ever used came from some small, unknown kiosk at our local mall many moons ago. It costed less than $40 and I forgot what happened to it upon getting married and moving it was not in the picture anymore. I went on to spend $100+ on brand names such as Beach Waver and Hot Tools both of which dropped the ball big time. This little tool came runner up to my old wand.
