Our house can be very "destructive" to cheap plastic toys, but despite consistent use this truck has held up very well. We have misplaced one or two of the stabilizer legs and the hook keeper on the front of the truck had to be super glued back on (although you could do without it). Once or twice we have had to re-string the cable, which is very easy. And one of the mirrors succumbed to constant attempts to remove it. But none of these things has detracted from the enjoyment of this toy at all. The hook is a sturdy metal - no fun ruined from a bent or cracked hook. The cable gear mechanism works great still. The extension and angle knobs still work great, despite being driven past their maximum and minimum many times. A few reviews mention that the doors do not open, which we think is a good thing because I suspect they would just get broken off anyway. Santa brought it and he could not be more excited about it... he plays with it everyday and has hooked all kinds of things up to it! Despite being made from plastic, it's a heavy duty plastic, the hook is made from real steel and the rope is quite sturdy as well!
