You do need to separate the red dot pieces which is normal for these puzzles. In case you've never done this type of 3d puzzle before the red dot pieces are pieces that have the picture on them, but are where other walls lock in. **Q: Are the pieces numbered like other 3d puzzles?** A: No, these pieces are not numbered. Assemble flat like a traditional jigsaw puzzle, then follow the guide to put it together 3D. **Q: Does this connect into one big puzzle or two separate puzzles that fit side by side?** A: Two separate puzzles that fit side by side **Q: Once completed, can this be somehow made 'permanent'? Like with some kind of glue? And will it be nice, safe and stable to display? Thanks.** A: Your answer is YES! BUT! It takes a lot of work to do this and you need to use the right supplies to make sure you are not interfering with the backing of the tiles...some elements cause them to warp or shrink. I have used duct tape, the thick silver kind most successfully, others did not work long term and/or were hard to apply to the back of tiles. Most recently “Puzzle Saver”, a strong paper front attached to a very good adhesive designed for things like this saved my Astronomy Tower. I figured out how to work with it on the smaller HP puzzles: Diagon Alley first and then Hogwarts. It takes patience but that is true about EVERYTHING about HP Puzzles AND IT IS WORTH THE SWEAT & LABOR. Patience & attention to detail will win the day. So many people have begged to buy my finished HP 3D Puzzles I rarely show them now. I Highly recommend placing them out of reach. Several Puzzlers I know built see-thru plastic or glass “boxes (like a fish tank) to make them untouchable. I placed some of ours in a glass cabinet bought for that purpose. ITS WORTH THE WORK! I was initially concerned after reading reviews that described it as very difficult and mentioned issues with missing pieces.
