It worked for me, but the temperature must reach 1600, or cherry red. That kind of temp will naturalize the temper in your barrel. However, if the area in question is at the end of the barrel no foul, but if its mid-barrel you may want to re-consider. db♫♪ **Q: Can this rod braze stainless steel to stainless steel?** A: Yes, with the proper flux. don't use the blue flux on the rods, it doesn't work well. purchase some Harris Stay silv black flux and a flux brush. harris black flux has a working range between 1050°F and 1800°F. stainless steel will carbonize very quickly if you're not careful. brush a thin coat of harris flux paste on the stainless then heat both pieces at the same time then push the rod against the base metal when it reaches an amber color, you may need to also heat the rod a little if it doesn't flow. If your stainless parts are 20 gauge or thinner focus more heat on the rod as the rod will take longer to heat, the surface of your stainless steel will carbonize if you heat it too long. **Q: Are these food grade.
