Mobil1 Full Synthetic?** A: Royal One is considered one of the better synthetic oils. Notice it does not say 100% synthetic. Only if they say 100% are they completely free of any petroleum based oil. Also note sticker says approved by Petroleum standards. Mobil 1 says this too. A 100% synthetic oil requires no additives. In Europe, fully synthetic = 100% synthetic. The first oil change with Royal Purple is a time in which the oil acclimates to its engine environment. You can still get 5000 miles out of it, but with the second oil change you will see a subtle change with oil life extending beyond the 5000 to 6000 or more. In my case, I am getting 10000 miles between oil changes, and the oil still has no burned smell to it. I do recommend using a good oil filter as well, like Wix, or something that can take the temperature ranges. If your engine is using oil, then I'd be cautious in making the switch, otherwise I have no regrets. With the last rebuild on my 1988 Jeep Wrangler I started it off with Royal Purple and haven't looked back.
