Review: very therapeutic - After using a lot of medicine, my dog's ears are still very itchy, bought this on the recommendation of a friend, and the ears are healed in a few days Review: There is hope for dog's ear infections! - My 6 year old lab has had ear infections since she was a pup. I believe, unfortunately, it's common in dogs with floppy ears. We go to the vet for ottomax and antibiotics and they help but never stop the issue. Only supposed to use it once a day. Followed the instructions and put the syrup consistency product so it went into her ear canals and then gently rubbed. No pain, no upset, no mess. She shook a little after which was fine since you should wipe the excess after. You are not supposed to clearn the ears before or after treatment. After an hour of it being in her ears, I looked and OMG....there was so much brown icky stuff that had come out of the ear canals which I cleaned up. The next morning her ears looked so much better and no icky brown stuff any longer. I used it yesterday morning, and again no awful discharge. This morning (day 3) she was very patient and lied on her back so I could easily put the med in. It was night and day. Her ears acrually look great this morning. I will continue following the protocol of putting in her ear once a day through day 7. I bought two containers just to be safe and was happy to see the shelf life is a couple years. I know it's only a couple days, but her ears are looking great and she was a happy, playful puppy this morning. Far less than the vet and not at all stressful or painful for her. UPDATE: Today is day 6 i put the med in her ears....they look perfect, but i'm following the instrutions to the letter. I am absolutely impressed. As mentioned I have always relied on my vet over the years with the her selling me MOMETAMAX to use at $38.87 for a 15g bottle which never seemed to solve the ear issues that would come and go. After our problem was cleared up I use once a week EPI-OTIC EAR CLEANSER which maintains my dogs inner ears and keeps them nice and clean. At first I was a little skeptical that the product would work as advertised along with other comments posted, but all I can say it sure did. It works like gangbusters at getting the impacted debris to break up and work its way out of the ear canal...that’s the brownish-blackish gunk. When the ears are bad, they can be red from the inflammation, which is why dogs scratch and shake their heads. It’s painful! After several days, there should be less gunk coming out and the redness should subside. Just wipe around the outside of the ear to clean off the wax debris that comes out, but don’t use any other “cleaners” when using Zymox or you risk killing the helpful enzymes.
