All this device does is make PHYSICAL connections between the RJ-45 plug and the Baluns, routing the video over certain wire(s) and the power over others. It JUST passes the signal, without changing it at ALL. These devices MUST be used in PAIRS. So, while it is physically POSSIBLE to connect one of these to an analog camera at one end, and then the RJ-45 to a DVR or PoE switch at the other end, this setup WILL NOT WORK. These are ONLY for use in pairs, amd their purpose is to allow you to run CAT5/6 Ethernet cabling between the DVR and cameras, INSTEAD of having to run either Siamese cable, or BOTH coax and 12V/24V power. They are merely aid to make installation easier/less expensive. **Q: How can i connect my old coax camera to the poe? so far not working.** A: These adapters are not for POE. They are not compatible nor will they work with POE. These adapters simply allow you to use a twisted pair ethernet cable in place of a coax w/ 18/2 for power for people that have existing ethernet runs or cable they want to utilize. They allow power to pass-thru adapter/cable from the source power supply near the DVR. **Q: I purchased this and tried using my rj45 camera with a bnc dvr and cannot get a signal. is it the dvr firmware or is itjust not compatible?** A: This item only works to convert BNC cameras to cat5 or Cat6 cable then back to BNC to the DVR. If your camera has an RJ45 connector, it is an IP camera and requires an NVR not DVR. **Q: 2 questions. 1. does the balun draw any voltage? 2. are all 8 wires need from the cat6. i have one wire that is broken-wre# 5** A: 1: It does draw voltage. I believe it sends it on two of the pairs. 2: According to my cable tester, it is using six of the eight wires.
