Review: Absolutely fabulous. I've owned other slices before which were good, but this one takes the cake. The slicing thickness is very easy to adjust and the blade is super sharp, so it even does tomatoes easily. Always use the holder! It slices so very quickly you could cut yourself badly if not using the holder.

**Q: Is this big enough to cut zucchini long ways?**
A: I tried a zucchini.  Since the hand guard is only half the length of the zucchini, only the part of the zucchini that is under the hand guard gets cut.  I just turned the zucchini around every few slices to even it out and do the other half, but I didn't get any slices as long as the zucchini.  It slices so thin, though, that the zucchini is delicious.  I hand jullienned the slices for "pasta".

**Q: does this work well on potatoes?  I want to make oven chips.**
A: Yes. It is awesome! Use the #2 or #3 setting. When you get close to the end USE THE HOLDER!!! This is a razor blade. People who report slicing fingers were foolish. When I was done slicing a potato I had two dime size nubs left. One from the start and one from the end. If you want longer chips slice on the bias/45° angle. Be careful and USE THE HOLDER!!!

**Q: how thick does it cut?**
A: it has 3 settings.  The first setting is paper thin, about 1/16.  Second setting is 1/8 inch thick and the third setting is about 3/16 inch thick.

**Q: How does this compare to the cheaper Oxo mandolin? Is it more durable and does it cut better?**
A: They are both alike at first look, however, it seems to me that the cheaper mandolin is made of thinner plastic and the slicing blade is also thinner. I find this mandolin to be more durable and and cuts better because of the thickness of both the plastic and the blade. Hope this helps you.

This mandolin has made cutting vegetables for my dehydrator such a breeze Pros: -the blade is very sharp and cut through the veggies fast and efficiently - the handle on the part that helps hold your veggies in place is very comfortable on your hands. It has little spikes on it so that your veggie can stay in place as you slice through it - I appreciate the visual illustration to determine the size of a cut you would like for your veggies, as opposed to a numerical value. It is easier to see exactly how thick I would like something instead of guessing what it would look like. - the thickest setting (as shown in the last photo) is just big enough. -the handle locks into place on the mandolin so you do not lose it while it is in storage Happy with this mandolin!
