I got the best results by cutting a square of fabric slightly larger than the circle I wanted to cut. Starch, press, fold in half, press, fold in half again (you have now folded it into quarters) and press a final time. The large dot and straight lines on the ruler helps you place the center of the fabric. Cut with a rotary cutter.I love using this ruler to cut pieces for a fan quilt. I added one more marking to this ruler, an X mark at 1/2 inch from the center of the dot on the 45 degree line. This becomes important later. Use a 6 1/4 inch by 12 1/2 inch rectangle, starched, pressed and folded it i half. Place the folded edge at the 90 degree mark. Cut the fabric at the 6 inch arc line. Use a fabric marker to mark the angle you want to use (example. Mark at 20, 40, 60, and 80 degree marks at the 5 inch and 3 inch lines). Lift the OmniArc without moving the fabric. Place the corner of the your fabric at the X you created on the OmniArc keeping the edges square. Cut out a small arc using the 2 inch arc line. Remove the OmniArc. Remove the small half circle from your cutting board. Place you straight edge ruler on the lines you have drawn and cut. Result, 9 perfect fan blades. Use a coordinating fabric to cut out a 2 inch circle for the center of the fan.
