Review: Spenco vs. Sole - I bought these Spenco flip flops at the same time that I also received a pair of Sole flip flops as a gift. My podiatrist told me that if I want to wear flip flops, I need to spend the money to buy quality ones that have good arch support. (Any other foot health source will tell you the same thing.) Both of these flips are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association and have great arch support. Also both mold themselves to your foot and are very comfortable. The big difference is that the Spenco gives you more of a barefoot, close-to-the-earth feel, while the Sole has a lot more cushion to it. I'm lucky to have both but the Sole does have more of a "foot pamper" feel while the Spenco feels more "athletic." The other difference I found is that the band that goes between the toes in the Spenco is a standard one, and I found it to take a lot getting used to, while the band in the Sole is sewn together to be more rounded and not rubbing against the insides of my toes (on my pair at least--online desertcart photos show the Sole bands to be the same type as the Spenco). I solved this problem on the Spenco by simply sewing the bands so as to make each one more like a pipe, which made a big difference in terms of foot comfort. The Sole costs about $20 more, according to desertcart prices. If you are concerned about price, you can't go wrong with the Spenco flip flops.
