Review: Fun for parents =) - My son is 3 and has been doing "chores" for a while, he picks up after himself, he puts his toys away, his laundry in the basket and on occasions helps "do dishes" and "vaccuums". Anyways, I thought this was a cute way to talk to him about responsibilities and days of the week. However, I think it's turned me into a slave driver b/c it makes him SO HAPPY to earn a "badge" for each thing he does. No Like: The list of responsibilities are vast, but not really in line with what I want him to do now (i mean he's 3!!) So we've made up our own. There are only a couple of blank ones. I think if I was crafty and motivated I would make my own with strips of magnets and my label maker. However I'm not that motivated at this stage. Why this is rad: 1) My son gets GIDDY at the idea of earning badges, and the more badges he earns, the happier he is (mind you, there is no reward tied to how many badges he earns) - he just likes saying that he did (fed the dogs, put laundry away, brushed his teeth) 2) It's a great bribery tool, "baby, you won't get a badge if you don't brush your teeth" 3) It lets him know how good/bad he's been, and he tells me "i want to behave!" Ha! 4) He gets excited about helping out around the house and wanting to do it all on his own (vacuuming, putting his dishes in the sink). I'm not sure how long this will last (so far 6 months and it's still working out), but for now, it's fantastic. It's minimized tantrums (oh, you want to flip out and be carried the next 3 miles, well, I'm taking 4 badges away if you're going to act like this). It's allowed me to give him the opportunity to do things "on his own" and we've created some fun tasks to do together. Like making waffles (he stirs all the ingredients and cracks the egg). **Q: I need reward ideas! We do a weekly toy/game/book if she gets most, but hubby feels it's not good for her to get a material item weekly. Suggestions?**
A: Maybe getting items weekly is too much. I bought this for my daughter and we set up chores weekly. I gave her one "Good job" magnet reward every time she did a good job. Then I told her she needs to collect 50 magnets to be able to buy her favorite toy/game or book. It worked and we are still doing that.

**Q: can it be put on the refrigerator - Does the board have a magnetic backing**
A: No it doesn't have a magnetic backing. We hung it on the wall. You could possibly get one of those hooks with sticky backing to hang it but it would be best on the side if the fridge instead of it banging against the door every time you open it.

**Q: Can I write on the top portion with a dry erase marker or only on the blank strips?**
A: You can write on the top with dry erase - it will come right off

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great motivator

We used this for homework. With a 9 year old, 4 year old (now five) and 3 year old. We didn't need it for the oldest but the 4 year old was going to start getting homework for the first time and we needed to start teaching the three year old things like her letters. At first the three year old wasn't that interested in learning letters. Then we put this up using the two blank ones to write their names and said they'd get a token when they did their homework each day. The three year old has gone from being uninterested in letters to knowing the entire alphabet, capital and lower case, and is starting to learn to read words now. It helped with the four year old, too. He sits down and gets his homework done because he wants his "token". At this point we hardly do much with it; we occasionally take them places and say it's "because they got all their tokens", but it doesn't seem to matter much whether they get anything or not. If you ask, "Do you want to get your token?", they want to go pick out their color and put it up. It helped immensely getting them motivated. When the other two get home from school the three year old will run to get me to "do her letters". It may seem pretty simple but it works! I like that it's a good positive reinforcement. As far as the product, it's built very sturdy, too. I think the only issue I can come up with, which isn't much of one, is that it's hard to squeeze all the magnets on the white board if you aren't using a bunch of different chore ones. That's not a big problem, though. We just use the bottom part of the chart to hold the overflow. I love this chart and I think we'll find new ways to use it as the kids get older.
