"Damascus" is a pattern of folded steel and had nothing to do with sharpening angle. Also, the bevel requires a 15° bevel, not 20. Because of the hard but brittle material used for the blade, whetstones are recommended for sharpening. Do not use a pull sharpener as it will chip the metal.
