A: If the powered subwoofer has rca inputs, and you're exporting the speaker line to the rca input directly,  you can damage both your sub & receiver. 
Subs require a low frequency input via the RCA input if theyre powered, which gets amplified by the powered sub. If you send a speaker level signal to a low frequency input, you're sending an already amplified signal into another amplifier.
