Review: Great tent for our 4 hooligans! - This tent well constructed (fabric/stitching/mesh/flooring) and offers various method of ventilation to keep the inside comfortable. It is good size and could sleep four adults in mummy bags with all non-essential gear out. Without the rainfly it's primarily mesh all around the four sides. One unique feature is the top side vent. It has its own small rod support to hold the vent open and a zipper that opens allowing access to three latches across the top to allow closure during rain. There is nothing inside the tent to hang a lantern from. There are two mesh pockets to hold misc. items located across from each other on the side walls. The rainfly can be a bit cumbersome. The tent itself use (6) stakes total. The rainfly uses (12) total. There are a lot of Velcro connection points to the rods as well, make sure and follow the directions and get all of them as these are essential for the stability of the tent. We haven't been through any storms in it yet, but the rainfly covers the entirety of the tent and drops down to within inches of the ground on all sides. The only openings on the rainfly are the vestibule entry, which has an overhang protecting the zipper and the top vent. Assuming it did rain the three latches when engaged should be able to keep the rain out on the top vent. If rain is getting in then you'd need to adjust the guyed support rope the better angle the top cover of the vent. The vestibule adds some additional storage space that's covered and protected from the elements, though items would be sitting on the ground. If you place a tarp under your tent, you could pull some additional tarp out and into this area. I stand at 6' 2' and the vestibule entrance almost has me crawling thru to get in. Keep this in mind as it might be easier to load up the tent with your rainfly off. The door to the tent itself is huge and has two latches allowing it to stay open when unzipped. There is a small little pocket built into the inside of the rainfly so that the vestibule entryway can be unzipped and tucked away to allow additional ventilation. Word to the wise. When setting up the tent in windy conditions, make sure and set the tent up so the tent entryway faces the wind as described in the set-up directions. The vestibule will help guide the wind up and over the tent and the crossed rods (tent rods and vestibule rod Velcro to each other under the rainfly) provides much more stability then the two rods at the back of the tent. This comes from personal experience in 25-30mph winds. The winds were hitting one of the back rods, which was bending it inwards on the tent. I couldn't rotate the tent at that time, but found out that through manipulation of the guyed support rope on that end helped provide additional stabilization during the heavier winds. Other then that, the tent held firm and that was with the factory anchor pins. I could mimic the inward pull on both back rods during calm conditions from inside the tent. The two front rods wouldn't pull inward like the back ones... So again, set the front towards any heavy and/or expected windy conditions. The vestibule entryway is from the side, so the entrance will still be protected. The tent folds up and compacts nicely. The rainfly when packed down takes up about as much space as the tent. The rods are standard length. Probably not the best for back packing but great for our family with three young boys. Setting up solo tent takes approx. 18 minutes, tear down/fold-up takes approx. 20 minutes.
Review: Proven Winner! Thunderstorm proof!! - My first desertcart review as a Prime member because you need to GET THIS TENT!! This amazingly water and wind proof tent held up under an all night thunderstorm. Got this for my kids (9 & 7) and I so we can Camp, hike, kayak in Daniel Boone forest. We get really bad weather here at times so I need a winner! We put this up in the back yard during remanence of hurricane Nate. It was 80° and clear when we started. The tent was a bit warm inside but I could have simply draped the rear cover over top to allow more venting. We used every stake and strap. When we crawled inside at 9 pm it was 75° and comfortable. 3 of us each have our own sleeping bag and mat. There was plenty of room for 1 more but all floor space would have been taken. At 1:00am the rain started getting heavier. By 3am it was a sever thunderstorm. The wind ,10mph gust, heavy heavy rain pounded this tent until 5am. NOT A DROP OF MOISTURE! No drips, seeping through wall or bottom. NOTHING!! I did use a tarp as a foot print but in this condition it wouldnt have mattered much. The kids and I slept pretty good. Kids never woke up worried but did wake up because the rain was loud hitting the tent. Coleman should supply 4 pair of ear plugs. :) The dog slept in the vestibule which stayed dry, with foot print, except at the bottom edge around the ground. Just keep items back 6-8inch and it will be fine. Have to admit, at times, I got a litte nervous about water and wind but this tent could easily taken on more rain and wind with no problem. Price doesnt mean quality. Dont waste $200 to $500 on a 3 season 4 person tent. If like us we camp a few times a year. We are under 6ft tall, lol. So unless you need special accomadations this tent is a proven winner. Only upgrade I will make are tent stakes. Coleman is still a major competitor to high end outdoor gear. Very, very, very pleased to make this my first review.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ a good tent!!!
*by K***S on October 5, 2009*

I bought this tent for my trip to Yellowstone. I loved how I could have it set up in under 10 minutes and that it only took one person. This allowed my friend to get the food cooked faster upon our late arrival to the campsite. It's a good quality tent as far as the material, the zippers work well and don't snag. I love the vestibule and how you can keep shoes and other gear out of the tent, yet protected from the elements. The all mesh tent body has great pros and not so good cons. Pros: The first time I used it was Father's Day weekend. My 5 yr. old nephew and I stayed in it without the rainfly on as it was 70+ degrees overnight (yes even in northern Wisconsin we have great summers). The mesh was a great feature as it allowed us to watch the stars and millions of fireflies which had my chatter nephew speechless. Great experience! ; D You have the feeling of sleeping right out under the stars without the annoying bugs . The size of the tent is great not too big that the tent is annoying to pack or find enough room to setup, yet not too small so that 3 people and a good bit of gear can still fit in it. 4 people really do fit comfortably. The base of the tent is made of good quality/ durable material. It's a little noisy but I'd take noise over a leaky floor any day. Cons: The support sleeves that the poles slide into are made of the same material as the tent body. It'd be better to make these with a more rugged/ durable material as the metal female ends of the poles have rubbed holes through the material in the 4 months i've owned the tent. Also the sleeves made a good space for earwigs to crawl into as earwigs are a common nuisance in northern wisconsin. It'd be better and easier if there were plastic tabs to place over the poles like other tents I've seen in place of the sleeves. Also like another customer mentioned there aren't any loops or hooks to hang a lantern/ flashlight or fan from the top of the tent. Also with the tent body almost entirely mesh, it allows too much air flow on cold night even with the rain fly on. Our first night in Yellowstone the temperature dropped down to 38 degrees and this was in the middle of August. It made for a really cold night. It would have been nice to be able to zip something over the door to protect from the big space of the vestibule where cold air was gathering. The other sides of the tents were close enough that it didn't allow much air flow in, but something over the door would definitely be a nice addition. The stakes are light which make it great for packing, but they also bend pretty easily, I think about 5 of them are bent out of whack already. A few minor adjustments and this tent good tent would be amazing! I know I had a lot of cons, but I really do love this tent. I've just been bringing an extra blanket for insulation and wear my snowboarding baselayers under my sweats at night. Like I said I've only had the tent for 4 mos. but I've used it at least 12 times. I think that speaks for itself. A great tent, easily packed, easily assembled and offers great versatility for weather and a great price with fast shipping from Amazon!
