A competitor's torch that I really like will take AA, 14500, or 14500 protected (spring makes up the difference). The competitor also has the output (brightness) adjustments, like the D25A. However, the competitor does not have the blinky-SOS-beacon modes, modes I find very annoying. Does anyone really use these modes? Almost every manufacturer seems enamored of these strobe modes. Can we get a civilian model for those of us crawling around in dark places doing service work?The one thing the D25A and other EagleTac lights do perfectly is the clip. I bought a handful of the Stryker Compacts, which are not made anymore, and they eventually wear out. The Stryker Compact had a clip that would hang on—you'd never have to worry that it would slip off and get lost. Most mini torches have cheap clips with no grip that might let go of the torch, or your belt. The Stryker and EagleTac have good clips that will hang on to the leather side of my Leatherman holster.(My gripe with the nearly perfect competitor is the lousy clip. But if I put the thing in my pocket, it rapidly wears holes in the cloth. And no one makes a decent holster for it.)Make the D25A long enough for 14500 protected, get rid of the strobe modes, and EagleTec will have the perfect mini torch. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Perfect light...except for the clip *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2019* Update: changing from 4 to 3 stars. I contacted customer service, explained that I broke my clip by my own fault (design notwithstanding) and wanted to purchase a new one. After shipping and handling, the cost to replace was >60% of the cost of the light. Disappointing that EagleTac is marking up replacement parts for a known defect that is the subject of dozens of online forum discussions.This is a great flashlight...except for the clip, which is attached via 2 tiny torx screws and breaks easily. I erroneously removed the tailcap rather than the head when trying to insert the battery and bent the clip into an unusable shape while trying to get the tailcap back on. I didn't even get a chance to break it during EDC like other users.PROs:(+) Bright, true to its lumen rating. (A rarity in flashlights right now.) Throws enough light for any outdoor task and for use as a backup tactical light.(+) Perfect EDC size. Small enough to disappear into a pocket but large enough to use under stress(+) Excellent construction, fit and finish (except for the aforementioned clip)CONs:- A clip, a clip, my kingdom for a better clip...Other than the clip, this is a really great little light. I am debating whether to take the clip off and keep it in my pack or to try to buy a replacement clip and give it another shot as my EDC. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality, super bright, perfect EDC, 10 year warranty. What's not to like. *by B***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2016* This light is awesome. When I received it, it was much smaller than I expected. From my research and actual use, this light seems to be really high quality. Nice threading, materials and a pretty good finish. I submersed it in water on high for hours pulled it out and it still worked great. It also has great light modes which include: firefly, low/med/high, 2 strobes, SOS and beacon modes that are pretty nice as well.I initially bought some enloop pros for it which work great but I then I recieved a nitecore 14500 li ion batt. This flashlight turns into something I didn't know was possible, I would guess well over 500 lumens. I have a streamlight TLR1 HL mounted on my CZ which outputs about 600 lumens and when I compare the beams it's not much brighter than this little eagletac. Pretty impressive!I will also say beware of buying the nitecore 14500 battery, mine took a dump on me after a few charges (with a nitecore charger, mind you)... Other reviewers said the same thing. It won't recharge. I will try to find Panasonics or Olights next.In conclusion, It's an awesome light if you want a small, high quality, super bright light. It is one of the few single AA lights that can run a 14500 li ion battery safely. I'm sure is why it's extra pricey but should last a long time due to its quality. Plus a 10 year warranty on eagle tac products.
