Neither of these statements are correct. It does not have a drawstring closure and there are no twist ties. As far as keeping vegetables fresh, I can say that these definitely do! I put fresh rosemary in one, and normally the rosemary leaves go bad much faster. It has also kept my zucchini fresh for longer, mushrooms, green beans, and apples. It is too bad that what I received is not exactly as what was described.
