The active ingredient is tree balsam. Balmex is very thick and rich and protects the skin. Good for diaper rash, injury caused by diarrhea or wearing a colostomy bag. I recommend that when you put it on, you use part of a paper towel because Balmex is difficult to remove from your hands even with hand washing because of the protective barrier that it provides.
